PROJECTS AND CAMPAIGNS
Here are some samples of the various projects and campaigns in which I have been involved. These are from my time at East Tennessee State University, which gave me experience with real clients, and real work.
HOUSING AND RESIDENCE LIFE
In my Public Relations Publications course, my team made a campaign for the Housing and Residence Life Department at East Tennessee State University. Our goal was to get more people to serve as resident directors for the department. While the department did not use our campaign, they commended the idea of leading people in the right direction as resident directors often mentor and guide the resident assistants and students in their halls.
LONESOME PINE REGIONAL LIBRARY
For my Advertising Practices course, my team worked with a real client, Lonesome Pine Regional Library, and created and implemented a campaign to help bring this 60 year old library system into the 21st century. I served as Research Analyst, leading the research efforts, and worked on the creative side for the campaign, as well. Our campaign was implemented by the client, and is still being utilized by them.
2019 NATIONAL STUDENT ADVERTISING COMPETITION
For the American Advertising Federation’s 2019 National Student Advertising Competition, I worked on the accounts team, specifically within the outdoor and transit ads and social media groups. On the outdoor and transit ads group, I helped create and develop an interactive billboard ad that allowed the customer to choose their direction on the road, and subsequently also choose their next meal. On the social media group, I helped create a social media campaign that highlighted the corresponding adventures with the specific meals, as well as utilized the client’s vast number of celebrity endorsers to further the adventure aspect.
RESEARCH
Here are some samples of the various research projects in which I have been involved. These are from my time at East Tennessee State University, where I learned the basics of research and the right way to find the answers to the questions posed.
LONESOME PINE REGIONAL LIBRARY
I served as the Research Analyst on a comprehensive advertising campaign we conducted for Lonesome Pine Regional Library in my Adverting Practices course. I managed the collection, analysis, and implementation of the research about our client and our target audience, making sure our ideas matched our research. The insights proved useful, as the client is still using this campaign now.
COX AUTOMOTIVE
In my Audience Research course I led a qualitative marketing research study for Cox Automotive. We researched car subscription services and their appeal in various communities in the U.S. We presented our findings to Cox Automotive and they used them to help better their innovative new products.
2019 NATIONAL STUDENT ADVERTISING COMPETITION
For the American Advertising Federation’s 2019 National Student Advertising Competition, I worked as Co-Lead Researcher and oversaw the collecting and combing through of primary data. I worked with the rest of my team to ensure we found the best insights and utilized them to make our campaign better appeal to our target.
PERCEPTIONS OF MARRIAGE
I was lead researcher on a multiphasic Qualitative Research study, consisting of interviews and a focus group, as well as Manifest and Latent analysis. The title of the research my team and I conducted was “Perception versus Practice: A Study of College Student’s Perception of Marriage and Their Pursuit of Relationships,” with the thesis being: “The themes that emerged were that college students’ perceptions of marriage and pursuit of relationships are influenced by three main themes: relationships they have seen throughout their life, personal growth and goals, and religious beliefs.”
"MIRACLE OF LIFE MY ASS": A STUDY OF GENDER AND PREGNANCY DISCOURSE IN WYNONNA EARP
As an Honors-in-Discipline scholar at East Tennessee State University, I completed an honors thesis during my last year at college. The thesis "explores the discourse surrounding gender and pregnancy and their portrayals in media, then applies those findings to perform an analysis of the critically acclaimed SYFY television series Wynonna Earp. Through this discursive analysis, it is concluded that Wynonna Earp does have a unique and different portrayal of women, pregnancy, and motherhood, in that it is mostly accurate and realistic, despite being within the supernatural drama genre." After completing my thesis, I presented it to the audience at East Tennessee State University's Boland Undergraduate Research Symposium in March 2019.
PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO
Here are some samples of my photography and video work.
EVERYTHING
For my Video Production course, I had to direct, film, and edit a short film. Here is my final product:
